This is getting a little ridiculous. Youtube has been removing videos because a company has claimed ownership of material (ie, music). We have been hit with this three times now. The first casualty was the USSR Bloopers Reel. Then it was 'Nade Jousting. But this one is stupid. BMX Rally 2552 was removed because of our use of the song "Jump Around"....really?? It was played for maybe thirty seconds and then had people talking over it the rest of the time. Is there anyone that heard it, and decided to record that video so they can listen to Jump Around?? Doubt it. Well anyway, I guess the point of this rant was to inform everyone that the Youtube version of those three videos are no longer available. And unfortunately, that was the only version of USSR Bloopers and BMX Rally we had posted, so unless we find a copy somewhere everyones out of luck on those two.
While I'm news posting, I wanted to mention that I have disabled the Xbox Live Leaderboards until a fix is available for it.
Also, I've been thinking about the future of this site and have been throwing some ideas around in my head. As many of you have noted, the forum has been pretty dead lately. Two possible reasons could be (1) it was the holidays, and that usually slows things down a bit, and (2) we haven't released a video in.....nearly 8 months. Which could definitely prevent some people from giving a shit.
Another problem is that I just don't have the time to devote to site related work that I used to. I don't reply to PMs, I'm slow to give out requested awards, and news is slow at best. Not to mention the maintenance that needs done on a regular basis.
So my first idea was to shut down the forum and put up a nice, plain webpage for news, info, and videos. But that seems a bit drastic (unless no one is opposed to that of course). The second idea was to remove all the fluff from the site. The arcade, shoutbox, awards, all of it. That would leave the basic site functions of news and forums, without all the other junk to get in the way. Maybe if things changed such as me having more time for the site, or the community getting much more active, thing s could be added again.
This is just an idea, but I feel like I need to do something soon. If you have any ideas/suggestions/comments, feel free to share.
